Biography

Kevin was born at Loring Air Force Base in Maine, May 11, 1981. He was raised on the coast, first on Mt. Dessert Island in Bar Harbor, Maine, before the family moved to Stockton Springs in the early 90’s. Kevin attended Searsport District High School where he was an average student, struggling to make it through puberty.

Upon graduation, he and his family relocated to the capitol city of Augusta, Maine. Here, Kevin met his best friends Terrance and Zaheben, (or ZB for short). He and ZB could be found at any of the local basketball courts around town or playing in a few different men’s leagues in neighboring towns by day, or at the local Margarita’s Restaurant where they both worked by night. It was also in Augusta where Kevin attempted his first and second goes at college, pursuing his degree in Art & Architecture, and later Sociology. Though he enjoyed playing basketball for the University of Maine, it wasn’t enough to keep his grades up and led to his decision to enlisting in the military.

At 25, Kevin found himself in San Antonio, Texas as a much older Air Force trainee from his 18-year-old peers. Soon he was trained in the ways of the military, and then as an Aircraft Electrical & Environmental Specialist. Always dreaming about younger climates, Kevin tried to get assigned to any southern base that he could, filling his dream sheet with such locations as Florida, Louisiana, and Hawaii. The Air Force has a sense of humor and awarded his efforts with his first duty station; Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota.

While at Ellsworth, Kevin maintained B-1 aircraft, affectionately known as the “Bone.” After four incredibly cold years full of adventure (and marriage), and two tours to the Middle East, Kevin was reassigned to Hurlburt Field near Pensacola, Florida. Here he was promoted to Staff Sergeant, worked on CV-22 aircraft, served on the Commander’s Support Staff as a Deployment Manager, and completed two more tours to Afghanistan and Djibouti, respectively. The highlight of his life also came while stationed here when his daughter was born in 2013.

Two years later, while in Africa, Kevin decided that his military endeavors had run their course and opted to venture back into the civilian world, only this time he was prepared.

Two weeks after his departure from the Air Force, Kevin embarked on his path of higher learning. He began classes at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. Here he graduated with his Bachelors Degree in Film with a GPA of 3.6 (not too shabby for a guy who was never exceptional at school). Upon graduation, he moved to Jacksonville, Florida to rejoin his wife and daughter who had already relocated to the area after a year in Orlando. Reunited with his family, he then embarked on yet another journey with Full Sail, only this time to be accomplished online.

Kevin will graduate from Full Sail University in June with a Masters Degree in Creative Writing and hopes of raising his 3.75 GPA to a 3.8.
