Four

Woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't sleep. It wasn't a waste, though. I started a new script for fun. My take on the Fantastic Four. The news of the Fox properties purchase by Disney/Marvel has sparked some creativity apparently. Even though it looks like the Fantastic Four won't be a part of the purchase, it's fun to think about them in the MCU. And so, I began a little project. As I was thinking about it, I think Reed Richards is everyone's least favorite of the FF. Well, him and maybe Sue. Thing and Human Torch were so popular, particularly together, that I feel a lot of renditions today revolve around them (By today I mean since 2000 as I have yet to see the last movie to come out). That said, I think I'm going to make Reed the genuine hero and have Sue really intertwined with him. The FF is the first family of Marvel and it starts with their relationship. I'm not doing a reboot/origin story. I'm tackling it kind of like Spider-Man in the MCU, minus being in someone else's story. They're still early in their career so that I can use that dynamic against them for added conflict. Plus, I like the idea of starting them out in California (like in the comics) and then move them to New York. I think how each character (Johnny and Ben) react to this decision should be fun. But as I said, Reed is my main character. I have him the brilliant scientist but he's dealing with PTSD from the mishap in space. I don't want to get into it on here, but I'm also trying to define WHY each has their specific powers. I know it's been done a few times, but through flashbacks and dreams (nightmares) we get glimpses of how they came to be, but with my own envisioning. I'm also trying to re-work Sue. I want her to be energetic, playful but most of all, Reed's rock. She's strong and charismatic but has issues all her own. She too is going through some issues, but she maintains her outward facade much better than the others are able. She's definitely not the subservient or distressed damsel. Anyway, that's what I'm working on. Let me know your thoughts and opinions below! Especially you nerd types...
